Description

The acute stroke unit cares for patients of all ages who have been admitted as an emergency following a stroke or a suspected stroke.

The care of patients within the unit is intensive and revolves around confirming diagnosis, assessing the severity of the stroke and devising a care and treatment plan.

Once a patient is considered to be stable and requiring less intensive care they are then transferred to the Rockley rehabilitation ward.

The Rockley rehabilitation ward

Patients come for rehabilitation to Rockley ward from the acute stroke unit, or from other wards in the hospital.

The medical, nursing and therapy staff continue with the treatment plan and ongoing assessment of the patient to help maximise recovery.
