Description
Your local and wider community may have many specific support groups for family carers. Nearby groups may have been formed to support family carers and cared for people of specific medical conditions such as Alzheimer's or stroke.
Carer groups meet regularly, some weekly, others fortnightly and many offer a varied programme of events which may include speakers, leisure and health activities and visits to local attractions. Groups give family carers time for a cup of tea and a chat, time to relax, have fun and make new friendships. If you would like to join a group but feel you can't because of your caring responsibility, talk to your carers caseworker who will be able to look at supporting you to do so.
