Description
Nurse led service assessing and treatment of non life-threatening injuries and illness for adults & children.
The staff are able to request & interpret x-rays, apply plaster casts. Close uncomplicated wounds with steristrips, glue or stitches. Advance wound management skills, prescribes limited range of medications: analgesia/antibiotics & anti-histamines. The staff are able to remove foreign bodies from eyes, nose and skin. We currently have access to x-ray facilities.
Referral Criteria
If you require urgent care, please call 111 or go online to https://111.nhs.uk/ for an assessment. This helps us to provide the right support or treatment as quickly as possible, and could save you an unnecessary journey.
If you turn up unannounced at the MIU, you will be assessed but could be directed elsewhere or given an appointment later that day or the next.
